1992 Antifouling Technology for Plate Type Heat Exchanger by Ozonation
Heat exchanger antifouling technology is very important to maintain efficiencies in the ocean thermal energy conversion power plant. In order to have more environmentally friendly and effective antifouling, ozonation is proposed as an antifouling technology. This technology was evaluated by conduction experiments using a plate type heat exchanger. In this experiment, the ozone concentration is varied from 0.5 to 0.7 ppm, the sea water velocity in the heat exchanger is varied from 0.85 to 0.3 m/s. It is clearly shown that an effective antifouling is obtained by ozonation for an ozone concentration of not less than 1ppm at a sea water velocity of 0.5m/s.
