1992 Performance Analysis of OTEC Plants at Off-Design Conditions
Performance analysis of an OTEC plant is carried out for off-design conditions. Calculations are made for a 100MW plant optimized for the design conditions of 26°C warm sea water and 4°C cold sea water. Ammonia is used as the working fluid. A plate type evaporator and condenser are used as heat exchangers. The calculated results such as gross power, net power, efficiency of turbine, and performance of the heat exchangers are shown when the value of the warm sea water is deviated from the design point.
